Editorial - Reformulation June 2005
The astute amongst you will have noticed that there has been a bit of a hiatus since the last issue of Reformulation. Mog and Serena have done a great job but were ready to hand over the baton and move on to new things. Unfortunately, no one was keen to take over as editor so there was a bit of a gap.
We have stepped into the breach, with the help of others, in particular Tony Ryle who has been a great sub-editor. Because of the gap, we have not had many articles or letters to the editor, so we have concentrated in this issue on news and updates. ACAT has a new chair of Council, Mary Dunn, and she has written with the latest news from Council. We have news from the regions in the U.K. and also from overseas.
We both enjoyed the conference enormously – well done to Miranda Buckley for organising it – and we have collected together some summaries of talks and workshops, presented there, for the benefit of those who did not make it. The theme this year was “Brain, Body and Beyond”, and there was a real buzz around the British Library as people struggled to integrate the speakers’ contributions with CAT thinking about the body and voice.
We have decided to start a “Trainee’s Section” in Reformulation, in the hope that more of the excellent work being done by trainees on courses around the U.K. may find it’s way to a wider audience. If you are a trainee and feel you have written something worthwhile, don’t be shy. Send us your work, up to two or three pages. If it is a little longer, we can try to help you edit down. If it is a little shorter, we will tell you if there is anything that needs to be added to make it clearer. All CAT practitioners, psychotherapists, and friends of ACAT are invited to send us articles, book reviews, adverts, announcements and, of course, any responses to this issue.
