Letter From the Editors
Welcome to the latest issue of Reformulation. There appears to be something going on in the CAT community at the moment, which has led to a preoccupation with ways of engaging with the deeper levels of emotional processing of the people we are trying to help. Perhaps it was sparked by the last conference. We have a paper on attachment from Anna Jellema, and a paper on the neurobiological effects of attachment and trauma from Nicola Diamond. We have views and reviews on various ways of reaching the parts of the psyche that words alone cannot reach. We are lucky in CAT to have a psychotherapy which lends itself so easily to incorporating new methods and we look forward to hearing from people who are already using these new ways of working – please send us your articles for the next issue. We will also be hearing about new developments in CAT at the next CAT conference on 5th March 2005, organised once again by the tireless Miranda Buckley.
You will find an ongoing dialogue in this issue about Bakhtin and what his work means to us as CAT therapists. This was sparked by a previous paper by Rachel Pollard which we have summarised again for those of you who missed it. Do feel free to join in the debate, although I’m not sure that Rachel will have time to respond to all the comments!
We are still hoping to have more papers from trainees in Reformulation, but have not had anything for this issue. Please could all trainers look out for work that would be of interest to the wider CAT community and encourage your trainees to send it in to us.
All CAT practitioners, psychotherapists, and friends of ACAT are invited to send us articles, book reviews, adverts, announcements and, of course, any responses to this issue. Thanks again to Tony Ryle for his excellent work as assistant editor, and to Jon Sloper for making it all look so professional.
